That’s why Kyandra is committed to fully supporting our teachers and support staff, investing in our classrooms, and putting students—not politics—at the center of our education system. As your State Representative, Kyandra will fight to: Raise wages for teachers and school support staff to be competitive with similar professions and to keep pace with inflation. Fully fund education — including career and college readiness programs that prepare students for the workforce and higher education. End the partisan culture wars in our classrooms and let educators do their jobs. Champion targeted retention bonuses and incentives for veteran teachers to recognize their experience and dedication. Invest in comprehensive recruitment, training, and mentoring programs to address Florida’s teacher and education staff shortages. Expand access to mental health professionals, counselors, and support staff in schools to promote student well-being and safe learning environments. End the school-to-prison pipeline and invest in student support, not punishment.

Strengthen disaster readiness, stormwater infrastructure and climate resilience efforts so every Floridian is protected from natural disasters and the impacts of climate change. Support local food systems and sustainable agriculture to strengthen food security and reduce environmental impact. Work to make sure domestic abusers and violent criminals are banned from owning a firearm Collaborate with law enforcement and community leaders from all backgrounds to build mutual trust and accountability. Invest in mental health and substance abuse services to strengthen families and prevent violence. Strengthen disaster readiness, stormwater infrastructure and climate resilience efforts so every Floridian is protected from natural disasters and the impacts of climate change. Support local food systems and sustainable agriculture to strengthen food security and reduce environmental impact. Hold polluters accountable and increase transparency around environmental risks in low-income and frontline communities. Expand urban tree canopy and green space to reduce heat islands, improve air quality, and support mental well-being.

As a working mother to an 8-year-old son, Kyandra understands the importance of strong schools, safe neighborhoods, quality healthcare, and stable housing—resources every family deserves. In 2024, Kyandra endured the heartbreaking loss of her father, who struggled with mental health and addiction. She will push for accessible, affordable healthcare, including mental health and addiction services.

As a working mother to an 8-year-old son, Kyandra understands the importance of strong schools, safe neighborhoods, quality healthcare, and stable housing—resources every family deserves. In 2024, Kyandra endured the heartbreaking loss of her father, who struggled with mental health and addiction. Relying on her faith, family, and community for support, she found renewed determination to tackle the challenges that prevent families from thriving. Kyandra started her career in the office of Congressman Charlie Crist and later worked as a legislative aide to St. Petersburg City Councilmembers Steve Kornell and Lisa Wheeler-Bowman. Feeling called to fill the gaps left unaddressed by policy, Kyandra went to work in the nonprofit space, collaborating with over 40 nonprofit organizations that share her commitment to improving health equity, education, and economic opportunities across Tampa Bay.
