Luis Viera is a lifelong resident of Tampa and a proud community leader who is running to give a voice to all Floridians in a time in which the working class are falling behind. We need a fighter who remembers how Florida futures are built and will work hard to strengthen our public schools, protect civil rights, give workers a voice on the job and advocate for dignity and respect for all Floridians, no matter who they are, what God they worship or who they love. Luis has built a record based on bringing meaningful results to Tampa over the past eight years on the City Council in representing North and New Tampa. He has secured funding for three new fire stations, led the push for an apprenticeship ordinance for young people, championed a returning citizens ordinance, led the fight to pass the Tenant’s Bill of Rights, promoted and funded disability accessible parks, including the All Abilities New Tampa Park, advocated for veterans and first responders, and was instrumental in securing the New Tampa Recreation Center expansion. In a time of xenophobia and bigotry, Luis (a proud son of refugees) has championed our refugees and been a strong voice against scapegoating of our diverse immigrant community. After Hurricane Milton, Luis pushed for $3.2 million in housing assistance for working class families that were flooded and worked with the County to pass an independent review of how our infrastructure responded to flooding in Zone X and many working class communities.
