Josie Tomkow is a State Representative in the Florida House of Representatives, currently serving as Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee. During her time in the State House, Josie has worked alongside conservative champions like Governor Ron DeSantis and President Donald Trump to deliver conservative victories that have made Florida a beacon of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. Every neighborhood in Hillsborough County has been affected by hurricanes and the flooding that comes from it. Josie led the effort to build a more resilient Hillsborough County that invests directly into flood mitigation infrastructure that helps protect neighborhoods during storms and hardens infrastructure to keep us all safe. This new program will help cut red tape across local lines, invest in Florida-based research that will help inform our decisions, and will prioritize the most critical projects today.

The State took action two years ago and Florida’s insurance market is now bringing in dozens of new insurance companies and that is driving prices downward. 33 property insurance companies have asked for rate decreases and the top five auto insurers are averaging over a 6% rate reduction. All the while, continuing to do more to bolster the reinsurance market to drive rates lower more quickly.
Property and car insurance rates must be driven down to help Florida more affordable for working families and small businesses. The State took action two years ago and Florida’s insurance market is now bringing in dozens of new insurance companies and that is driving prices downward. 33 property insurance companies have asked for rate decreases and the top five auto insurers are averaging over a 6% rate reduction. Additionally, we have to ensure that policyholders get the benefits they paid for and don’t have to fight for what’s rightfullly theirs and keep fraud and abuse out of the system that ends up getting passed down to consumers. All the while, continuing to do more to bolster the reinsurance market to drive rates lower more quickly.
