What to know
This is a yes/no retention vote. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Justice Carlos Muniz to the Florida Supreme Court in January 2019, and voters retained him in 2020 with about 66% voting yes. He was Chief Justice from 2022 to 2026. Before joining the court, he was general counsel of the U.S. Department of Education, deputy attorney general and chief of staff to Attorney General Pam Bondi, and deputy general counsel to Gov. Jeb Bush. He joined the 2024 majority that upheld Florida's 15-week abortion law, and in 2025 he wrote the majority opinion upholding the state's redrawn congressional map.
