What to know
This is a special election: Sen. Ed Hooper, R-Clearwater, stepped down with two years left in his term, so the winner serves until 2028. Nocco has been Pasco County sheriff since 2011, when Rick Scott appointed him, and has been elected every four years since; he is leaving that job to run. Before that he was a deputy chief of staff to Marco Rubio in the Florida House and chief of staff at the Florida Highway Patrol. He is endorsed by Ron DeSantis. He describes his priorities as conservative, pro-business and law-enforcement-friendly.
