Hanewicz was reelected to a second term without opposition in May 2026, when no one qualified to run against her, so this race will not appear on the November ballot. She was first elected in 2021 and is the 2026 council chair. She is the first Latina elected to the St. Petersburg City Council and represents the city on the Tampa Bay Water board. She is an attorney who previously worked as a Pinellas assistant state attorney and as an assistant U.S. attorney before opening her own practice in 2014.
