Richie Floyd is running for reelection to St. Petersburg City Council District 8 to continue the fight to make St. Pete a city that works for everyone! Donate Sign Up for Updates About Richie Richie was first elected in 2021 after running a grassroots campaign driven by hard work and funded by small dollar donations from everyday people. Richie is a Florida native, and previously worked as an Electrical Engineer and a Pinellas County Schools Science Teacher. He lives in the Central Oak Park neighborhood with his wife, Miranda. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, and participating in community organizing. Richie moved to St. Petersburg after college and immediately fell in love with the city. He quickly became civically engaged, participating in neighborhood groups and political campaigns. He is a democratic socialist, and before running for office he worked on campaigns for working class issues like the $15 minimum wage, labor rights, voting rights, and more. Richie will look for all legal avenues to end collaboration with ICE, beginning with the 287(g) policy.

Richie will fight to: Protect our residents from the abuses of ICE Stand up to the state in support of our Minority and LGBTQ residents The Federal and State governments are out of control. They are blatantly corrupt and pushing a hateful ideology upon our city. Richie will stand up for our city's values every chance he gets, and work to keep St. Pete a place that welcomes everyone. Richie will look for all legal avenues to end collaboration with ICE, beginning with the 287(g) policy. ICE is breaking the law and eroding the freedoms that America was founded on. Richie will push to ensure all communities have visual representation following the attacks on our murals because he believes our students, neighborhoods, African-American, LGBTQ residents, and EVERYONE deserve to be represented in this city. Richie will continue to push for unity against division and show people that it's not your neighbor who threatens your well being, it's the extremely wealthy and their constant search for profits. Richie believes all people want the same thing, a safe and dignified existence. He will focus on human needs and not private profits, so that we can build a city for all.
