Education
Beth retired from the Union Local School District as a Special Education teacher after 30 years of service.
March 25, 2026 Beth Ann Edwards, 68, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 20, 2026. She was born on November 11, 1957, a daughter to Carol Speranza and the late John Lucas. Beth retired from the Union Local School District as a Special Education teacher after 30 years of service. She was passionate about her job and especially loved being an advisor to the culture and drama clubs, where her husband, Mike, often lent his time and talents to help construct sets. Beth and Mike were united in marriage on June 26, 1974, and shared a lifelong bond as true soulmates, cherishing every moment together. Mike's unwavering support for Beth was evident in all they did and remained constant up until the very end of her life. One of her greatest accomplishments was being known as "Gram." She enjoyed staying active in the lives of her grandchildren, including sporting events, plays and music performances, birthday parties and gatherings, and frequently hosting all of the grandchildren for sleepovers. Beth loved spending time outdoors, especially at her campsite on the lake and on her boat. In their retirement years, Beth and Mike were inseparable, enjoying antiquing, daily adventures, and walks at Epworth Park with her beloved dog, Cooper. In addition to her father, Beth was preceded in death by step-mother, Nancy Lucas Porter, and sister, Toni Schard. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Mike Edwards; children, Carol (Kevin) Snyder and Chris (Renee)
