What to know

J. Andrew "Drew" Atkinson has served on the Second District Court of Appeal since 2018, when Gov. Rick Scott appointed him. Before that he was a state government lawyer, including general counsel at the Department of Management Services, deputy solicitor general and assistant general counsel in the governor's office, and he served in the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment. He wrote the 2022 opinion in the Seminole Heights murders case that let prosecutors use evidence from all four killings in each trial. Voters retained him in 2020 with 70.89 percent voting yes.
